SURIGAO DEL NORTE

Known formally as the Province of Surigao del Norte (Surigaonon: Probinsya nan Surigao del Norte; Cebuano: Amihanang Surigao; Tagalog: Hilagang Surigao), Surigao del Norte is a Philippine province situated in the Caraga area of Mindanao. Prior to 1995, Region 10 (Northern Mindanao) had control over the province. Surigao City, the province's most populous city, serves as its capital. [3] The province is made up of two large islands in the Philippine Sea, Siargao and Bucas Grande, as well as a small portion at the northeastern tip of mainland Mindanao and other nearby lesser islands and islets. Between the municipalities of Alegria and Kitcharao in Surigao del Norte, this mainland section shares a boundary with Agusan del Norte. To the south, it borders the province of Surigao del Sur.
