NEGROS ORIENTAL

The Philippines' Negros Island Region is home to the province of Negros Oriental (Cebuano: Sidlakang Negros; Tagalog: Silangang Negros), also known as the Province of Negros Oriental (Cebuano: Lalawigan sa Sidlakang Negros; Tagalog: Lalawigan ng Silangang Negros). Dumaguete, one of the two regional hubs of the Negros Island Region (the other being Bacolod), serves as its capital. It borders Negros Occidental, which makes up the northwest half of the vast island of Negros, and occupies the southeast half. Apo Island, a well-liked diving destination for both domestic and international travelers, is also included.

Negros Oriental confronts Siquijor to the southeast and Cebu to the east across the Tañon Strait. Roman Catholicism is the most common religious denomination, while Cebuano is the most spoken tongue.
