MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL

Officially known as the Province of Misamis Occidental, Misamis Occidental is a province in the Philippines' Northern Mindanao region (Cebuano: Kasadpang Misamis; Subanen: Sindepan Mis'samis; Maranao: Sedepan Misamis; Filipino: Kanlurang Misamis). Ozamiz is the most populous city, and Oroquieta serves as its capital. Panguil Bay to the south and Iligan Bay to the east divide the province from Lanao del Norte, while Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur border it to the west. The Subanens who once inhabited the province of Misamis were a prime target for Lanaoan sea pirates.
