AKLAN

The Philippines' Western Visayas region contains the province of Aklan, also known as the Province of Aklan (Akeanon: Probinsya it Akean [ak'ɤan]; Hiligaynon: Kapuoran sang Aklan; Tagalog: Lalawigan ng Aklan). Kalibo is its major town and capital. The province is located in Panay Island's northwest and has borders with Capiz to the southeast and Antique to the southwest. To the north, Aklan faces the province of Romblon and the Sibuyan Sea.

Boracay, a resort island located 0.8 kilometers north of Panay's tip, is Aklan's most famous feature. Known for its white sand beaches, it is regarded as one of the nation's most popular travel destinations. Because of its international recognition, Kalibo's Ati-Atihan Festival has been dubbed "The Mother of all Philippine Festivals."
